Most people remember the name Amiga. But that's about it - would you believe me if I told you Amiga never died? It's true. Amiga had a rough time after Commodore went under and so was quiet for many many years, but those of us who prefer elegance over power stuck with it. That's not to say we didn't do our damndest to make our Amigas as powerful as possible, but ease of use, configurability, and "the right way of doing things" is far more important to us than how many clock cycles your CPU can push.
That being said, a computer and even an elegant OS like AmigaOS only has a limited lifespan. Updates were released that helped bring AmigaOS forward a bit, but what we really needed and never got was a complete new OS capable of running on new hardware. Never got, until now.
Amiga Inc. is back in business, running under their own steam with no parent company and releasing new products. It's a great time for Amiga users, and the computing world in general as people cry out that there has to be SOMETHING better than Windows, less complex than Linux and allows more freedom than MacOS. That something is AmigaOS.
